modified sierra driveshafts
modified sierra driveshafts
Has anyone ever used an extra 2 (either front or rear) diff pinnion flanges (the bit with half the uni) and bolted and pressed them together to make a double uni joint arraingment?? the reason to gain extra angle the the tailshaft can turn at before it binds up in setups with huge lift or extreme suspension situations.
If it has been done:
1. did this setup work well??
2. would it be best at pinion flange or coming off the x-fer case??
This could be used when streching wheelbase without the need of custom shafts and also give the aadvantages mentioned above.
Anyone with pics or information please post here, also contructive critisism welcome. People Sh*t Canning my ideas please keep it to yourself.

If u check my thread on driveshafts, hilux ones were mentioned in there. mu can go with WT zook flanges and clearance them a bit for the lux ones.
Not sure on the length of the lux shafts as no one got back to me.
cheers

If you mean creating your own double cardan cv joint, then without a lot of work you really cant, as you still need the central pivot point to keep them at the same angle.
If you mean adapting the flange into an existing joint, then if it fits, no reason why not.
Id be interested in this if you do, im making custom shafts soon.

buggy time............
i see how it works but why the hilux doubble cardan join works but two sierra flanges bolted together dusnt work has got me stuffed.
EDIT: i see it now but if that inner coupling stops it flopping around wouldnt you still only get the same as a normal uni joint?? as that middle yolk in now kind of a middle shaft.

i think the max angle u get out of a dc is 26 degrees, the bearing and housing support it all, without it it just does not work there is physically nothing to hold the flanges central, ya really need to assemble 1 and fit it in the lathe like i did and its pretty self explanatory as to how it wont work.
buggy time............
