Maxi Trac Springs

Has anyone used or know anything about the Maxi Trac leaf springs that Repco are selling (ie , are they any good) Cheers

These springs are imported from India by Motospecs (a subsidury of Repco). They have only been on the market for about 18 months and are really cheap. As they have only been about for a short time there probably haven't been too many purchase these springs. When I was involved in selling Maxitrac springs I sold a few sets and didn't have any comebacks or complaints. How well they work I didn't get to have to much experience on that side of things.

Not sure of these particular springs but I would be buying anything out of India, I've heard a lot of bad reports of them using recycled steel of different qualities and grades. Like melting standard grade steel in with spring steel thus making it brittle.

You're valid in what you're saying but the thing you've got to remember is that a of lot Australian companies (not just automotive) get products manufactured abroad in countires like China, India, Taiwan, Thailand etc. The quality of products which Australians have come expect is pretty high, hence Australian companies sound out only the good manufacturers in these countries. You are only going to see more Indian, Chinese etc sourced 4WD componentry in the not too distant future. ARB is a classic example of this, they are in the process of setting up a manufacturing plant in Thailand.

As for what you say on the Maxitrac springs, I know the guy who set up the programme and he would insist on only quality metals being used to manufacture the springs.

I would assume Repco have done their research and given their warranty on their own products is normally very good there should be no problems. But as India is only now coming on line as a manufacturing mecca, their products are yet to be proven, especially in the way the we like to use and abuse our vehicles. Let's face it most leaf sprung 4WD's get quite a work out ie being throw around using the springs as sliders etc.

me personnaly am hoping the repco stuff is hard as a rock so it wont
deform as quick with heavy mq diffs

If you want hard as a rock in an aftermarket Sierra leaf spring, 4Way have that.
