Air Filter Q's?

Post by HotFourOk »

Hey Hatsu Lovers . . . :D

Just wondering what air filter element you Rocky 2.8TD drivers use... Do you use a genine one or I've heard some Hilux ones will fit also..

Are you using paper ones... I've been told to stay away from K&N and UniFilter etc.. and use the stocko paper ones...

Any part numbers and prices would be helpful...

Thanks,
Nick.

I used to run a finer filter. The problem with them is that if it has too much filter fluid on it, the turbo can draw some fluid in, and it will accumulate around the impeller housing.

As for paper filters, there is a hilux one that fits, but it doesnt have the plastic cyclone fitting on it, and it doesnt come with the rubber seal on the manifold end, so you need to remove this seal from an old genuine one, and glue it to the inside of the air cleaner can, around the outlet to the motor, as well as removing the plastic cyclone thing. Its well worth doing, because a new ryco for a Rocky is around $30, while the Hilux one is about $15.

Numbers

In a SAKURA brand, which I happen to have at home, the Hilux number is FA3024, and the box says interchangable with A-310, which may be the Ryco number.
