Mickey T radial claw problems?

i've got a set of new Mickey T radial Claws, that have been fitted to a 40 series, and basically driven 500k's. almost brand new, and at least 2 of the tires are starting to crack (all the way through the lug and even into the carcase of the tire)... is this normal? i hope not.

not driven hard (under 80) basically driven every weekend to and from 4x4ing (15 k's) offroad, and occasionally to the shops

It's not something that I've ever heard of with the Claws.

I'd suggest taking it back to a Mickey Thompson Dealer.... or even take some pictures and send them to me. I'll get the ball rolling from my end.
If it is a legitimate Tyre issue, the distributors have no problems at all and are very good to deal with.
That is a strange thing to hear about in regards to a Claw.
Either which way, let me know.

Ihavent had a problem with mine and ive given them deaf. Ive had them for 8 months now.

not rubbishing the tires or anything, but i was shocked as h#ll... they are after all very new (well a couple of months old, but the trucks been out of action for a month with a blown T-case)

i wondered (hoped) it wasn't a common problem because i really like em. will get them to a dealer asap (i'm interstate at the moment, but have my old bfg All terrains to drive on).

hope it was just a bad batch

It has to be a bad batch mate. I've given mine a beating, and although they have years left in the tread, i'm already confident i'll replace them with a new set. They rock!

correct that, 3 are doing it, i moved the 40 and found another one in the front tire

Just get them back... get them to talk to Rob Keilar when they are sorting the problem. I have already fore-warned him.

I had claws now for about 2 months, I have found them awesome, Ive no doubt I would get them again for sure..

Just the other day I went mud packing, and I went through some serious mud, I ended up going around the whole site without the use of 4x4, I shat it in.

In the wet they are good, and in the dry even better, I dont find them too noisey, The only problem I think with them is they shimmy at around 75km an hour, That could be something with my car aswell???.

I havn't found any cracks..

You probably lost a weight somewhere, mine balance pefectly. I find they're getting louder with age, but you can't run a tread like that and not expect to pay for it

The 37 Radial claws on my mates old GU have been to hell and back and still had no signs of cracks when he sold it, Donuts, burnouts, Rocks, daily driving, nothin damaged them, I reckon ya got a bad batch

Of course its a bad batch.......every product that has ever been manufactured has and will always have a bad batch no matter how good quality control is...............

The back up service is what then sets reputable companies like mickey thompson and fourbies tyres marooka apart.... actually being keen to help and get you back on the road enjoying your chosen hobby without fuss or argument sounds like a good thing to me.........

had your chosen rubber been a cheaper poorly contructed tyre the response may have been

Well from the comments on here i am hopefull that things will be resolved.

if they are resolved well, i will post a big armsup to them, and anyone who i dealt with. they are great tires (well apart from the point being discussed, but i am confident they don't all do that)

so waiting game (i am busy for a couple of days)

quick update, after contacting the dealer Ryano suggested, after ryano contacted both him, and mickey thompson direct, which was above and beyond... thanks Ryano

anyway i organised to see the guy this morning, work committments popped up, and after removing them last night, i decided after i cleaned them up and in good light off the vehicle, it was most likely offroad damage, and not a tire fault. when i called the dealer i was supposed to meet to cancel, and say that i no longer wanted to pursue a warranty claim because i felt it was probably damage, not manufacture failure, what happened next amazed me.

He wants to make a time and place conveniant for me so he can check for himself, so he can ensure there was NO FAILURE BY MICKEY T, and to ensure I, as the customer was treated as well as possible. he said even if it was offroad damage (rock or otherwise) damage would suprise him on a radial claw of that age. even if it was offroad damage, he would see what he could do to make sure i was 100% happy with the tires... i was shocked... a company that WANTS to warranty it's work.

I must admit i was dubious when my brother bought these for the 45 (my truck, he drives it) as i heard mixed reports (mainly by people who hadn't owned anything other than BFGoodrich). After riding in the troopy with them i was tossing up between a set of these or a cheap tyre for my 40, which only sees weekend action. driving them offroad the decision grew harder as i saw how much bite they had. Now i've seen how much faith the dealers have in these tires, and the customer service, there is no problem now, my 40 will be gettin a set as soon as funds permit.

i have a strong feeling you won't be dissapointed. i'm more than happy now, without getting them warrantied, if they warranty them you won't be able to shut me up

i didn't end up getting them inspected... i couldn't find time to get them looked at, and now my brother's got them back he won't take them to get looked at because he's a slacker.

a mate got 75 000 ks out of his claws but he drives rather calmly however i hammer my claws so id be lucky to get 40000ks but no wuckers, just lets me get a new set sooner - i love em.

75thou wow i wouldnt of expected to get that much from them i cant see how you would. I drive mine fairly sedatley and they are only going to last me another 5 if lucky

i have not had a problem with them up on 110 and cornering in the wet when i first had them it was handling better than my hancook muddies did, however i have hardly driven in the wet laterly on them due to car being a toyota and doing what toyotas do best (break). i will be interested to see how they go once there warn a bit, a mate has them and has said he has found stopping in the wet can get interesting after there warn alittle,

I just got a set put on....my only concern is the wet tarmac....yet to test them. On a dry road I have found them to be great.
