how important is a steering stabiliser on a buggy?
Hi there, reason I'm asking is because a rangey I bought is running landy diffs and consequently has no mounting for the stabiliser. The vehicle is heavily chopped and will never go on road again. I recently bent the drag link ( where the stabilser normaly bolts onto ) and was wondering if this was partly caused by not having anything to absorb shock in the steering? I am running 38's though!
so I wasn't surprised....any thoughts?
I've got a WEAPON OF MOSS DETRUCTION

Um i think most buggys and rock crawlers run hydro steering but thats all i can give youSnarba wrote:Hi there, reason I'm asking is because a rangey I bought is running landy diffs and consequently has no mounting for the stabiliser. Its not going to make a differance unless your running a steering box and your driving at speed. driving slow u wont need one.

We don't run one.
it depends on the steering setup, if you are running a standard setup, i'd run one.
Last year i dorve Cape York with Snake histeer on my hilux and no stabiliser and didn't even notice.
It all has to do with the geometry of your steering.
At WE Rock i noticed that Becca Webster (Red Bull) had her hand fully inside the steering wheel at times, which i've always been taught is a huge no no. Then i realised the buggy was running full hydraulic steering and it wouldn't have made any difference what the tyres hit, it wouldn't have travelled back though the ram and to the steering wheel anyway.
