How easy is it to split the case of a Hilux tcase? Is it a "newspaper on the kitchen table" job, or are there any special tools necessary or bits that need to be correctly torqued, etc. I dont have a workshop or garage to work in so "vice" work is out of the question. Anything I need to look out for, or helpful tips?? I am reasonably mechanically minded and able (stripped down/modified motors, changed clutches, recoed front hubs etc), so it isn't the work itself that is the prob, just any "gotcha's"
After buying the case with the 4.7's installed, I need to get in to grind a bit more off the selector fork as it hits one of the gears when "slammed" onto gear, OK when eased into gear though. (case has not been installed or run in anything yet.)
The guy I bought it off kindly supplied me with the gasket to put it back together again.
Anyone in SE Melbourne that would have an afternoon for a slab/bottle of your finest to give me a hand in their workshop?

Thanks for the link. The case is already out, sitting in a cardboard box...hopefully the drive flange nut wasn't done up too tightly.spazbot wrote:heres a a quide to run u through, its pretty easy, just crack the drive flange nut before u pull the case out
