gearbox + transfer ratios

Post by nicbeer »

Gday

Gearbox
I have now put in a 5sp out of a 94' sierra and found 5th feels a different ratio. Is there a difference between a 85' 5sp and the 94' 5sp?

Transfers.
I have a 85' 1.3 xfer coming out and putting a 90-on transfer back in. What differences would I notice? I am running 225/75/15 tyres with the 1.3,extractors,exhaust and sports cam.

If going for the later transfer is bad I might go swap it for an earlier one as I think there was one there,( only difference was the drain plugs I think in external appearance)

cheers

I believe all 1.3L transfer case ratios are the same. And all 1L transfer case ratios are the same too. So the only difference will be that the later model one should in theory have done less KMs than the 85 model.

I believe there ARE 2 different 5th gear ratios but unsure of the ratios and what year they cut over.
