What would be the ideal engine revs when winching??

It depends on the Pully size on your alternator. The alternator in my suzuki gives maxium output at 4000RPM, the radius of the pully on it is under half the size of the driven pully from the engine so my alternator works to it's full potential at 2000+ RPM, 2000RPM being the minium i would run my engine at when i winch.
