Diff Leaking...

Post by dandownunder »

Guys, Just went and got the surf out of the garage and noticed a small puddle under the rear diff, after having a closer look, it is leaking/seaping from the front of the diff housing where the rear drive shaft is bolted to the diff. Does anyone know why this may have started !? The Surf has been garaged for the last 5 weeks because I've been overseas

The diff is not the origional Diff, I bought a second hand one and had that put in there to change my ratios. Think it's only been in there a few months. Am going to take it to a Diff shop next week and see, any info would be great,
Cheers
Dan.

yep sounds like a pinion seal... dirt and crud gets in there and wears it out.
