TD4.2 Dyno/tune

Post by speed=t/d »

Have 03' GUIII 4.2 turbo intercooled. Now 60 000 k's old, have fitted 3 inch exhaust (made a reasonable increase in performance) every thing else is factory.

Have read the bible re mod's but have a few further Q's.

1/. will fuel consumption increase? (I know this is directly related to how I drive - but say on a trip bet Syd - Bris).

2/. will it decrease engine life (can the 4.2 handle extra herbs) any unwanted side effects.

3/. where do you recommend in Sydney for the tune?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

with just an exhaust mod .. no it shouldn't .. but depends how u drive with the new found power
more power = more right foot = more fuel = FUN

2/. will it decrease engine life (can the 4.2 handle extra herbs) any unwanted side effects.
more power = less engine life again depends how u drive it

say if you tune it to 300hp you'll get like 10000kms out of it
big boost and lots of fuel ... lots of $$$ in engine mods = FUN
more fuel = washing the bores down = less oil for lube = engine wear
then again if you can afford all this you can afford a rebuild every 10000
you don't have to go berko tho all depends what your using ur rig for
4.2s are capable of producing and handling good power ... i think 12psi boost and fueled to suit would keep you happy for a lil while ... pyro, boost, engine temp, oil temp guages are recommended if dicking around with this stuff too .... good for bling factor too (fullyschickhabbib)

3/. where do you recommend in Sydney for the tune?
ask some one is syd

Thanks in advance for any replies.
its all about the FUN  once ur bored with that go V8 petrol

We do pump retime, boost upgrade [14psi], and new dump pipe, and mandrel bent 3" with straight through muffler, and tune for 600-620 deg C on the dyno, on my new 4.2 tdi makes 103kw and 4500 tractive newtons @ 2300rpm, in 4th gear, on 37's, on a dyno dynamics dyno with a 15 deg ambient.

You could try macquarie 4x4, 18 park st Vineyard [Windsor] they do many nissan 4.2 power upgrades there.
