3 Sets of speakers?

Post by FireyFeroza »

Hey i was just wondering if this is at all possible?
i was unloading the feroza after a camping trip and looked at the back door with an idea, Is it big enough there to put a set of 2 speakers? the main issue would be the depth! Let us know if anyone has tried it, or has some ideas as to how i could go about it.
The reason i think it would be good, is it would project the sound directly to the front at a decent height!

You could even use spacers for a bit more clearance... Have you got the window washer water resevoir in the rear door tho?? I know my Rocky does.

Depends what depth speakers you are going to use also.. some shallow mount ones should do the trick  You'll need an amp tho.. if you dont have one already

Your right about the position tho.. directly at you would give good sound

What do you have in the car now?? 2 other sets I suppose. (4" and 6"??)

Yeh its gonna be running the amp out of my other car, just trying to get it all done at once. Nah there is no windscreen washing reservoir in the back for the feroza so thats no probs.
Currently got 4' and 6x9's.

I just bought some 3-Way Pioneer 6" speakers and they are the shiz... they require 44mm mounting depth and give an excellent sound.

Since you've got 6x9z already in there, you could use coax 6" speakers to give a bit more clarity from the back.

A better upgrade would be to install the 6" in the front doors, instead of the 4" up front as this improves sound quality dramatically.. one of the best upgrades you could do with your sound system. (Besides a couple of 12" Subs  )

In a stereo, you always aim for most of the sound coming from the front stage... and the back only has 'rear fill'. This is why most people put 6" componenets up front and then 6x9z or 6" in the rear.

My ELIII has a reservoir on the LHS of the rear door (as you stand looking at it with the door open.) Haven't you got a rear window washer/wiper on your model?

I looked at putting speakers in there but decided the spacers would need to be too deep and intrude into the already tiny cargo area too far. :?

I'd say you would have to do some sort of a build out.

Hertz used to make a speaker that would be ideal, I believe a few other companies make something similar.. Rather than using the standard magnet they use a neodyne magnet with is miniscule in size, basically the type of magnet used in a tweeter... which means the mounting depth is halved.. I think Cadence might even make something suitable... been a couple of years since I've been into the car audio scene.

Personally I've been thinking of making a new rear panel to put in a better water reservoir, and maybe even a practical light for camping, and possibly a storage pocket for jumper leads, etc.
