Cleaning Intercoolers

Post by defender kev »

Ok guys i have just done a few mods to the TDI and want to make sure my cooling system is up to scratch.
How would i flush and clean the intercooler,is there anything i could soak it in to make sure its clean.

Cheers Kev

It's pretty simple just pour in some petrol and give it a good shake around then repeat until it comes out clean. Then shake out as much of the petrol as you can and place the intercooler in the sun to allow the petrol to evaporate. If you're concerned, when you've finished with the petrol switch to methylated spirits then allow to sit in sun to evaporate.

I clean mine pretty regularly as I have above average blow-by. I have always used methylated spirits and let it sit for an hour or two before I chuck it back on.
