what diffs to use

Post by gary ryan »

OK,I have 94 duel lux,was diesel 5 speed 4.3 diffs,now v6 auto.?is how to lower RPM at crusing speed,eg.at 100ks now is 2300RPM i think is to high
.Been told to lower RPM,change tyre size or change diff size.Forum chat on 33s,arnt legal in QLD and probably wont change a lot.Next choice is to change ratios. Has any one sucessfully done this? what cogs should i choose, what RPM do need to get for 100ks, or am i asking to much,or for trouble. I know of 4.1 ratios but been told of 3.54s,auto has low 1st gear3.54s could work. Forum is great and very helpfull. Thanks G.Ryan

Ratios will solve your problem Gary and be the cheapest/ easiest way other than tyres.

For Gary's benefit (and mine) what is the largest LEGAL tyre on a lux in QLD :?: Given that the largest factory tyre was a 7.00 r16 (I think).

Rules say 15mm higher than tallest factory option.

You should be able to get away with 33s (not legally tho) if you dont behave like a rat
