front hubs

Post by stcogan »

im a little new to 4WD. I have a Patrol with manual front hubs and I was wondering if leaving the hubs locked when the transfer case is in 2H is a problem? I am wondering long term, the snow has just started to fall pretty seriously here and the roads dont get plowed quite so quickly. and jumping out everytime the rear wheels start spinning is a pain in the tail.

any thoughtt

My thoughts are that it wont do no harm at all. FWH are really an economy device which you either choose to use or you do not. Theoretically your steering may be slightly more loaded and your front axle is dragging slightly but nothing that they weren`t designed for. I think people do more harm never locking the hubs and never using 4wd.
