the 18r into f20 post to rival all

alright i am looking into chucking a 18r into my F20
now ive searched for a wile and didnt come up with a lot of hard evidence

so i will put down a lot of questions that should stop alot of pplz asking the same question if they search i duno

1 ok so the 18r is a 2.0 corrects
2 what cars did the 18r come out of? i was told carona's
3 where do you get the kit from
4 whats in the kit
5 whats not in the kit that needs to be made
6 do radiators need changing
7 do fan shrouds need changing
8 do altinators and things like that need changing
9 do i need any custom shafts or etc made
10 what bolts do i need or are they in the kit
11 does any one know the price of the kit
12 does any one know the going price of the motor
13 what do i do for the speedo and tacho
14 whats is the wiring like any custom wiring jobs
15 ide gather it needs to be engineered how hard is it to do

sorrry if these questions seem a little noob
im just trying to answer any questions i can think of and any that others may have

if any one has any questions pm them to me and i will post them up in on big post instead of 20 replys with one question in each

also i know i could bolt it in and so on but i duno about the speedo cables and electronics and so on its all the little mechanical bits i would be stuck on

i have putt a 18rc out off a celica in my f20 it has a adaptor plate moddyfiled sump diffrent oil pick up diffrent engin mounts on the motor alternator mounting was diffrent and the wireing was also diffrent and the radiator is diffrent to a 12 r radiator u myne already had a 18r in it someone els did the mod i just replaced the motor and noticed the diffrences il sell u my whole car for the motor and conversion stuff lol good luck power is good tho

my main worries are like of sure the you get mounts for the motor to get in in the car but its thel ittle thing eg like you were saying the alternator mount, radiator, sump and oil pick up

because i dont have the "equipment" to actually get the motor in the car ( a crane or engine hoist) so i would need the mechanic to do the work and i might as well get him to do the rest like the little custom things

Instead of payin $800 or more for a mech to put it in, go buy a hoist, engine stand, every tool you ever need, and do it yourself.... Then you can do it again any time....

You have mail.

Lots of little fidgety things will need to be done, but easily tackled.

Just get a complete 'long' motor with all accessories, you don't need a wiring loom, the 12R and 18R are similar enough to be able to compare what goes where when you do the conversion. Wiring is very simple.
