3 inch lift and 33inch tyres

Post by RED-GU »

hey all
l was wondering on a 3.0 guiv tdi with a 3 inch lift and 33x12.5x17 would this cause my speedo to read incorrect? If so which way so if l was doing 100kph what would it be??

And also with the lift would this use up more fuel or would it be marginal?

Thanks you

any lift makes a car less aerodynamic.

biggq answered your other. but depends how your speedo was reading to start with.

It will show about 4% slower on your speedo if they measure a true 33".

But your speedo may be out a touch so you need to work it out with a GPS. ie My speedo reads about 3% too fast so for me, I would nearly be spot on running 285/75R16 or 33"x12.5"x17"

with 285 75 16 true 33's my gu is lucky to be 1km out (hard to tell its that close ) used with gps , thats at 100km , on the hwy the tyres bigger radious should improve fuel econemy but the weight of the tyres its rolling and the rolling resistance would probably negate that , our fuel economey hasn't changed that much for me to tell (4.5ltr) but you can feel a slight power decrease pushing the slightly bigger rubber taking off etc with standard diff ratios .

more lift more car hitting the wind = more fuel , but i don't think it would be a factor to put you of, it won't make that much difference on a diesel come bowser time . the tyres would be the biggest draw on fuel more so than the 3" lift .

cheers Jai
if its worth doing do it intensly , better still do it with MADPASSION

mass produced speedos, just punched out painted on #'s. chances are there will be errors.. specially when the manufacturers say that 10% error is ok....
