Clutch will not disengage?

Post by ludacris »

I have a Ford pressure plate and flywheel and a GQ clutch or it seems to be as it has the GQ spline pattern. I was thinking of spacing the pressure plate back 1 or 2 mm.

The clutch fork works and all so that is not the problem. Thanks.

It was not workin recently as it is a new engine conversion. It is a 351 Windsor in front of the GQ 5 speed.

clutch

Have a look at the flywheel, you may be able to machine the surface to suit rather than spacing. You could end up with a clutch shudder if you try spacing and it's not even. cheers. :)

If your lacking throw you could machine a new thrust bearing spacer, bend the fork to suit, adjust the slave cylinder or machine a new leg for it. Lots of possibilities

Put a larger bore M/C on, I have fitted 1" bore off I think an Isuzu truck and with fiddling with the alloy spacer you can also fit a common trailer braking M/C with a selection of bore sizes.
Or possibly its the Nissan telling you it doesn't like Ford sh#t

I might just pull it out and take it to a clutch specialist who can have a look at it and determine the best way to get it workin.

I do like the idea of machining it down where the clutch clamps though and will most likly go this way.

Ford sh#t hey. We will see J Top.
