Towing What exactly? I own an auto, and would never go back, specially out that way..

Any shocks will take a pounding out there. You want something like LTR's with remote canister to keep oil cool.. but what ever you get will take a hammering.

depends on manual or auto.. Oil will depend on what you can get in Karratha too. Shell Rimula X seems to be very good.
The 4.2 diesel has done 185ks but has had reguilar and quality servicing since 40k and by the same mechanic. This one is a 95 and I am looking at picking it up for around $14.5k.
