1L aircleaner to 1.3L engine, stupid question...

Post by Drewfus »

Motivation has struck and I'm trying to get my butchered/mixmatched zook back to 'standard looking' for rego purposes.
My current frustration is that I have a 1.3 zook engine, a 1L front clip, and am endeavouring to temporarily use a 1L air cleaner so that its all zook and looks 'factory'.

Now the slight problem is that if I mount the aircleaner bax as I'm led to believe it should, then the actual box outlet is facing downwards, whereas I need it facing upwards. So, looking at the airbox, I tend to think that the outlet end should be able to unclip and be rotated due to the fact it has a little male/female locator on the outside (kinda shown on pic 3).

Obviously I could do a cut and paste job on it to make it work, no worries there, but it is teasing me that it 'could' possibly unclip and I'd just rotate it to where it is needed to be.

As an easy alternative, I could bend the box mount (the mounting plate that comes of the front inner gaurd), but then the air inlets for the air box would be all arse about.

So, do they 'unclip' or am I going to have to 'cut n paste'?

I used a 1.0 litre air filter in my 1.3 conversion, because it was easier to fit with the bodylift.

I undid the bracket from the inner guard and moved it a little and bent it up a little..T?hen I used a cut down 1.3 rubber hose to connect.

I also spun round the 1.3 air box thing a little.

PS
1.0litre air filters are better.
You can turn on/off the snorkle as needed.
