L.E.D lights

i have looked on ebay and cant find some l.e.d lights that i want to put on my ute, i want to mount them individually on a piece of checker plate but cant find any decent places that wont charge me an arm and a leg, any help in the newcastle to gosford area would be nice thanks guys.

yep dont go ebay there is a guy on there showing pictures of like the group of 2 but he is actually sellin indevidual lights at like $50 a pop so thats $300 just to do the normal 2 blinker 2 brake/tail and 2 reverse

i got a set of rounds one which are just brake/tail and blinker about 98mm round for $80
now i just need some reverse light and a number plate light

btw i got mine of ebay but i dont see them any more

Overkill sells some pretty cool led's, I bought some for mine. They are only about $35 each and the best part about being individual is if you break one you only replace one.

The Truckline shop at Hexham also sells them but are a lil more expensive.

the white reverse lights are the most expensive. got them from a truck shop, a little expensive but will outlast the truck, and its a tax deduction , so who cares. I had to get the inter flashing indicators aswell - they look the coolest

Yes, apparently, for some reason, white LEDs are the most expensive to make. Most number plate lights are therefore slightly blue.

you guys are mad sick, high n mighty they look pretty cool, and yeh its cheaper to replace one then 10. that dude on ebay is a wang,he craps on about some shite. stopped in to the truck shop at warnervale this arvo, had a look. like the dude has on ebay these are a set of three with a brake,indicator,brake. they dont look to bad considering he want $89 a side. like you guys said the reverse and white are the dearest. for some reason i dont know why, thanks for your help will keep you posted on where i get'em and how much. cheers.

The white lights are so damn expensive because Hella? in Japan owns the copyright solely and demands that kind of price.

My reverse lights are white but they aren't legal for that application, they are just marker lights off a truck(about $30 each), if I had known about the blue ones at the time I would have bought them simply for looks because neither of them puts out enough light to reverse with anyway.

If your vehicle can be described as a commercial vehicle(like a hilux can be) it doesn't require reverse lights at all

Dunno, the boxes they come in are at my parents house.

Just go into a truck shop or ask Sam at overkill, they are very common in shops though you don't see them on the road much.

They are a hella light though.

The white lights are so damn expensive because Hella? in Japan owns the copyright solely and demands that kind of price.

It is actually because all the other colored lights produce only one narrow spectrum of light, and if you all recall white light is a mix of red, green, and blue light (get up close and personal with you color tv if you don't believe me).

What they do to produce "white" LED's is to produce UV light and use that to bombard a white phosphor (like a flourescent tube).

Extra manufacturing = extra money.

Add that to your useless trivia collection...........

grazza they are the same as old mate is flogging off on ebay, got a price from the truck shop again at warnervale. circle l.e.d lights 100m-$189 a light!, my jaw dropped that was rediculous anyways gonna pop into TRUCKLINE manns road west gosford this weekend to have a look let you know how i go.

They were definately $70 each. And they are ADR compliant.
Have lots of other types too.
They have lots of high intensity LEDs and are great. If I bust my lights on my rear bar I will replace them with these.

I bought the Hella lights for my project off ebay $200 pair which is $120 less than retail.

they come with a 5 year replacment warranty and ADR approved. Most other cheap stuff either isn't approved or doesn't have the backup.

I spoke with a guy that works at Coburg truck parts and they deal heavily in LED lights and he said pay the extra as it will be cheaper in the long run.

At the end of the day you get what you pay for.

When not in use it is white and when in use it colored.

Combo stop/park/indicator..fully sealed and comes with 6m lead

Make ya own if ya handy with a soldering iron.
I grabbed the old rear bulbs. smashed the glass, grabbed a bunch of 2000mcd red leds. Put 6 on to the brake circuit, 3 on to the tail light circuit of the bulb with current limiting resistor. (Ran out of LED's)

Then drilled six holes on both sides, and inserted six leds into the holes. Silicon holds them in place. Wired them up to the parking lights.

Sweet...

Cost: probably 2 cents worth of electricity for the soldering iron, and 50 cents worth of solder. LED's were ripped out of old telephones. Basically cost me nothing to do.


Still got blinkers to do, but then also need to change the blinker unit to a flip flop circuit.
