LPG problems
Ok, not only am i starting to go grey but i'm about to pull all my hair over my bl@@dy car. I replaced the twin carbs on the rangie with a 350 holley for ease of tuning and to fit a better gas system, now i have doe this to my other ragie ad it ra like a dream. Now i have fitted a sprintgas new gen mixer on top of the holley and i cant get the bastard to idle no matter what i do, i have adjust he mixer plate height to the recomended height, fiddled with the powere valve, sensitivity screw and the carb idle adjustment to no avail. Now i have noticed that if i tap the converter while running the tune changes, so could i have a dogey converter ? its a LG motor gas P6 and is about 6 weeks old with almost no roads k's on it, i really need some help here as i am about to break something expensive. The previous conversion i did was using impco gear and that was dead easy - i still have it so this is my last resort.

I am unfamiliar with the converter can you post a pic of some specs, from the sound of it the diapharam (either primary or secondary) has a leak in it a really small cut or nick would be my guess - I had the exact thing with an OMVL setup after a ripper backfire it would run under acceleration ok but not idle no matter what, it would just run down from 2000 RPM to 0 and stall no matter how much stuffing around I did.
I stripped the converter down and found the diaphram was burned to the pooh-house - the nick in it that would have been 3mm let air mix with gas (nice and flamable) and then it backfired and burned all the way back to converter.
if you have another converter swap it across - I would say you are right about it being dodgy

Hi Nick, what model of sprint gas converter did you put on it ? whats the specs? did it idle on petrol?
impco is a much easier system..easy to diagnose.

g'day if you suspect its your converter pull the hose from the mixer with the engine stopped & listen while someone turns the igniton on ,
you should be able to hear gas for several seconds until your safety cuts in.
the other thing that causes trouble idling is air leaks around carbs mixer etc
do you know if its running rich or lean when its trying to idle?
does the engine have good vaccum ? as some times with a big cam & low vaccum the spring in the impco ohg type mixers is to strong for the weak signal & you have to swap it for a lighter spring.

after stuffing around trying to get my preferred setup running correctly, i swapped the impco setup i had on my other rangie and bugger me if i couldnt get that running properly either ! Now i gave up and got my old man to look at it and he found the problem, bloody car has an apetite for harmonic balancers, just chewed thru the 3rd one in 3 years causing the timing to be out by approx. 35 degree's. Will have to tune by ear untill i find another one or just speed up my 4.4 conversion.
