front tail shaft extension qoute for 83 hilux
hi i have an 83 hilux 12inch lift , 37 tyres ,i need to get my front tail shaft extended .i got a qoute of bercos to cut an extend my from tail shaft .to cut and weld $160.00 balance shaft $160.00 new extended shaft from toyota $287.00 h/d uni joint$60 total$667.00 is this any good if not which way to i go about it

Paid $300 to get front and rear shaft extended and balanced for my MQpatrol in brisbane. I think they r having a go at u
06 Grand Vitara Prestige, 2" lift, Kumho A/Ts, ARB winch bar, snorkel, spotties. Also a Regal 2150 LSC Volva Penta 350 gsi duoprop, and a kayak ;-)
Are the unis the same front and rear.??
If so I would get an other rear shaft and have it shortened. I don’t know if you need to have it balanced.
The rear shafts tend to be bigger and stronger.

78 scout 392ci V8 LPG, 727 TF, dana 20, dana 44 locked and loaded, 9" rear Diff. 10inch lift'n'so on
If you take it to a half decent place they wont need to balance a front shaft as you really won't need to use it at speed.
Having said that I had my hilux past 100kmh on frazer island with my extended non-balanced shaft with no vibration or anything...

mine cost about 35$ square RHS there are some threads on them on here, nice cheap alternative as long as u can weld or no someone who can...
