Braking Dramas...

Post by HotFourOk »

Hey guys,

In my Rcoky.. When travelling along at normal speeds Eg 60km/h, I hit the brakes and it pulls up really well.
Although, when creeping along slowly, like at traffic lights, in heavy traffic or when reversing out of my driveway.. It tends to not want to brake very well at all. I put the pedal to the floor and it only just stops.. When I jump on the anchors any other car will jolt you when it stops.. :? Mine will just roll to a stop. I almost run up someone's bum today as it couldnt stop.

Anyone had this before?? Could it be brake booster or master cylinder??

Thanks for your help... Nick.

Sounds like a vacuum issue. When u are braking from slow speed, does pumping the pedal help?

cheers

I guess you've got a vacuum pump somewhere, to drive your booster, which is working OK at higher revs (to brake well from speed) but doing SFA at idle.

Either pump is cactus, or leak in the system.

Check all your hoses, and throw a vacuum gauge in the line.

Another 2c,

Scott

Lucky I didnt pay someone money to fix up another guys stuff up :x

I'd go back and have a go at the bloke who played round with the vacuum system. He put your, and your family and anyone driving around you life's at risk.
"Forgetting" to reconnect the brake booster power supply is a BIG f**k up.
