Hi, im just looking to see peoples opinions on working a 6.2lt chev. whats out there? cams, supercharger? anyone?

For starters... what do you intend to do with your vehicle and what price range are you looking at?? 5k, 10k? more?

just a mild upgrade, prolly no more than 5g's. more low down torque is what im looking at.

oh, and turbo charging is not an option as there is no room.

Could you fit a supercharger on instead like you suggested... will give good torque improvment.. otherwise there are cams but you have to source them and bang for buck is less than a blower.

A close family friend of mine had a 60 series with a 6.5 litre chev. He put on a cappa centrifugal super charger on and loved it and down low it could pull a sailor of your sister at one stage he was running nearlyt 20 pounds boost. With the intercooler and all the plumbing it did cost some dollars to do though.

the chev 6.2 will not handle any kind of forced induction without major internal reworking, in which case you are far better off just buying a 6.5 and bolting it in - the 6.5 is a far better motor and even the NA variant will handle being blown or turbo'd. or you could go back to the trusty old 2H and turbo and intercool it - I know there is a lot of evidence that these motors don't stnad up to big boost but Carts' one is pushing 13psi and has been for some time, and it goes hard, certainly harder than a 6.2 chev.


about all you can do for the 6.2 is make sure the exhaust and inlet are as unrestructed as possible and get it on a dyno for some love to the timing and injection volume to make sure it is making its best possible peak power.

To give you a bit of an understanding on the benefits of unrestriced air flow, especially for the intake, Gary Wardoper (spelling) put a monster intake snorkel on the tray of his GQ and the exhaust temp dropped by 100 degrees with no other changes. His GQ is turbo though, but in theory it should work fairly similar in a n/a engine as you make power with fuel in a diesel rather than air like in a petrol. ;)
