Custom Exhaust - 3" for GU Wagon ?
Signed up for the 02 4.2td Wagon.
What's the word on exhaust systems? I'm thinking 3in straight through stainless/mild steel??
I had a 3" on my disco V8, but it was way too noisy (like a drone), and I don't want that in the GU.
Plus I want it to sound awesome - and whistle!
I saw beaudesert exhausts had a 3" system straight off the turbo??
Thanks

tiapain exahusts do some of the nicest work i've ever seen for patrols and with some pretty impressive gains too, look them up there on the gold coast.
few of the comp circurt winch guy's are runnin there systems and say good things about them ..... worth the few extra $$
don't turn your nose up at them till you see there work

Yeah g'donya mate....I'm WELL over 50 (just baggin') and I've just fitted a Beaudesert version. Happy? You bet yer sweet nuts I am!!gqmad wrote:its dead quite mate just do it.
My old man has it on his truck and he is over 50., he loves it.
i have it on my gu and its also quite.
just do it mate you will love it
Early days yet, but I reckon almost a gear better overall. The "hole" between idle and about 2000rpm has basically filled in!!!
As for any improvement in fuel consumption....dunno, not enough K's yet but I don't have high expectations!
Difference in sound? Not a lot...a little more "throaty" perhaps....when you put the foot down tho' it's akin to adding an extra ball!!!
Fitting? Piece de weewee....taking off the OE stuff? PITA!!
Cheers

Agree with the post above, I fitted a Beaudesert system on Christmas night and feel it is tremendous. Mind you mine is a GU ute but the parts are labelled for the respective systems. A little bit of a drone before I put the muffler on. They say there is no advantage taking the muffler off as the flow isn't restrictive. It cut 16% off my 0 -> 100 kph off on first drive. With a lighter vehicle it could be better.
The hardest part is undoing the bolts around the dump pipe - the six of them took over an hour for two guys in really a cramped spot . it is best to grease the new nuts going on but they are tight too for little clearance round the new pipe. All other pipe work bolted to place with no hammering. A good jig obviously.
I have still to understand why Nissan would put such a restrictive dump pipe on the turbo. Part of the port out of the turbo is blanked off by it. Make sure any kit replaces the dump pipe.

Never enough of the right sort of tripping
exhaust
dts make an aftermarket cast exhaust dump pipe that comes off the turbo, get this it makes the most difference.
its a 90 deg elbow off the turbo that the pipe bolts to.

Chop it drop it and big block it.
