front diff problems

Post by rockyrocker »

hi all,
i have just discovered that my front dif has a broken tooth on 1 of the side gears.
which has damaged the crown wheel
so no 4wd until i fix that sucker so my xmas trip is probably off,
i would love to be able to put a diferent dif centre in so i can get a lsd or be able to put a locker in
does anyone know if the fron difs of a later model rocky with a lsd would be able to fit in?
anyhelp much appreciated
or if anyone has a spare dif centre lying around would be good to

I was just asking because if you welded the front diff you'd be engaging/ disengaging the hubs a lot more> Intially I thought auto's would be better (if you set up a switch inside to control them), but you need to reverse to disengage them don't you?
