Wet Air Filter

Post by HARMZ »

Went through a couple of puddles yesterday and felt like my GUs performance was down but wasn't until i tried to get on the highway where my GU was struggling to do 60 in fourth gear with foot to the floor, so pulled over and checked engine came to air filter, there was water on top of it sitting in the ribbing, pulled out K&N filter to discover wet and a tad muddy, it has appear to have come through a drain hole (tell tale squirt marks on side of canister near hole)

anyone else had this happen?

I replaced the water drain with a ball valve and flexy hose down to a handy spot to control it buy sticking my hand in from the wheel arch that way I know when its open or shut

The OE rubber flap valve gave me no confidence at all
