what is the go with maps i have looked around and there are so many etc. I need to put them on 2 of the same units so would like to copy them across. what is best for sunny cost and qld, and what is the best for broken hill, nandooka etc for the obc. what do you recommend. there might just be some beer or $ involved if i can have a "lend" of the maps if that is possible.
is the biggest sd card like a 1gb etc of any benefit or are more smaller ones the go.

SD cards bigger than 64mb are useless in FX324 as they can only read 1 map on the card named detail00.img and the largest compiled map is limited to 64mb.
You compile the map, with the software, of the area you wish to view/use. Try and keep them down below 20mb even as this makes the unit run faster tracking on the map.
DiscoverAus, Hema Great Desert tracks and the older Mapsend Australia software are all good. You *might* be able to find these on eMule or bittorrent.
You should also be able to find the Aus basemap.img on eMule. All the info to upload the basemap to the unit can be found on the Yahoo Meridian Forum/usergroup. The secret menus are the same in the this unit as in the Meridians. I would post the info here myself but I have lost my notes and unfortunately my alcohol soaked brain has long since forgotten the info.
