GQ body mounts (WORTH)????

Post by ozy1 »

ive done a search and all and found some details,

now, i read that if you trim the crush tube you will get some more time out of them till you can afford it,

my question, is this crush tube located in the mount between the chassis and body, or is it in the bit below the chassis,

It is in the actual body mount rubber section that you would be replacing.

Remove the large black thing and look inside there

The problem i found with the body mounts was that the rubber compresses over the years and then leaves the body supported by the steel tubes.

I ground my front four body mounts back as they were the ones that were worn and they seem to be fine. You're only talking 5mm or so. Saves a bit of cash, if other things are also required.

Also check them all, you might only need to replace the front or rear ones.

From memory Nissan wanted between $40 and $45 each, but that is a year or so ago and there is three different types required.

Hope that Helps.

I've been meaning to do this same job for a while now too. I've been putting it off because of the ridiculous price Nissan is charging. I haven't been able to find any aftermarket suppliers either. Let me know if you have any more luck in getting some.

Best not to leave it too long or else the body starts to move on chasis and things start to crack up.

ie should of done mine before cape york trip!

$400 is about the right price

I replaced mine earlier this year and nissan charged me $340, this was trade price. It was for a LWB aswell, therefore $530 seems way too much. I must say it well worth doing though.

I need to do this too... Is there nothing else you could use instead of genuine mounts? I take it bodylift block material is too rigid?

i know jeep city does body blocks that are designed to replace the original body mounts plus whatever additional lift you want, and there is also another thin piece under the mount and a large steel washer, good design. mate used them, rock solid.

I also have these, the 2 inch blocks they supplied were 75mm in height, you just toss the original rubbers and use these, you could always buy 5 of them and cut them in half, should give you 10mm or so over standard height

Body mounts, or lift blocks.
