is it true that after replacing the uni's in the 2 piece rear shaft on my hilux that i have to have it rebalanced also.

Replacing unis wont affect balance of shaft. Just make some alignment marks for when u reinstall it at diff & gearbox ends as well as centre bearing if u split that too.

ummm yes u do, ive worked in the driveline industry for 11 years and having experienced and seen it my self you do have to get ur 2 piece or single rebalanced.

how do you tell that your uni is warn out?
is it just by moving the drive shaft around to see how much play you have in it?
i have two piece drive shaft.

It all starts with a driveline vibration, then you get under the rig and notice there is movement in your unis.
