Hi All,
I have just finished fitting a snorkel to my 1991 GQ diesel. I have removed the pre-cleaner and replaced it with PVC piping and silicon-rubber hoses.
To test the snorkel I placed a sheet of newspaper over the snorkel grill. (I'm not sure this is the brightest idea let me know if it's not) I expected the vehicle to stall with the reduce airflow however it kept chugging along without any complaints.
It sounds like the engine is sucking air in somewhere on the main air filter near the clip at the very back of the engine bay.
Has anyone had this problem before and, if so, how did they solve it?
Cheers,
David

Air Intake Leak
Re: Air Intake Leak
bit of waterproof grease on the sealing lip of the airbox lid can help.iwannabeapirate wrote:Hi All,

Check where the tube joins the aircleaner. There is a square to round adaptor and sometimes it can leak wher it joins the airfilter body. Also check the PCV valve hose underneath where it joins to the aircleaner. Also check where it joins to the inlet manifold--there is a rubber seal here which is clamped by a small bolt.
