Compressor Wiring

Post by bigbluemav »

Hi all

I've got two Bushranger Maxair copies (ebay) plumbed into an automatic on-board air system on the Mav'. However, as I had them mounted on the rear wheel wells on a bit of an angle, the soft rubber dampeners that attach the compressors to the mounting plates have failed, so I was repositioning (no rubber dampeners) vertically on my cargo barrier/roll bar.

All was going well, right up to when my 2yo son, who was "helping", removed the masking tape tags that marked +'ve and -'ve on the cables from the compressors.

Hence my question, does it matter which side goes to pos/neg? If it does spin the other way is this bad for the motor or the compressor pump? Are they balance to run only one way?

If anyone has one of these compressors, could they remove the rear (grey) cover and see which (pos/neg) goes to switch and which one goes straight to motor.

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

pretty sure they are not polarity conscious. try hooking them up to the batt. if she blows (air thst is ) all is good. maybe fuse the leads to be on the safe side.

Nah, I pulled it apart once (bored) and there is a one way valve (flap of thin ass steel) that means it should work both ways. I was just worried that the little crank might be balanced for turn one way.

try it both ways for a short time (5 secs or so) im guessuing if it is suposed to run a specific way it will make a wierd noise running backwards.
