winch mounting issues

Post by guzzla »

ive got a premier 9000 lb'er on an 80's and am about to re build the front bar. i wish to fit the winch independantly between the chassis rails up high as possible. in doing so i believe i may restrict access to the manual over ride knob if i were to mount the winch with the mounting bolts facing forward.

If i were to turn it 90 degrees and have the knob at the top of the winch which is far more practical anyway, it would then bolt to the bottom of the bracket (150x150x10 angle).

would mounting it this way put an unacceptable amount of stress on the winch even if i were to support or pack the front face to prevent movement / breakage :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

cheers in advance guys

the specifications supplied with the winch should say which way(s) it can be mounted. maybe ask the distributor. it will probably be oh but check with an official source (ie from the manufacturer) first.

Experience is something you don't get, until just after you need it.
