Hay I'm just wondering how others that have serria utes ... don’t know if the marati is the same inside as the cab chasse (that’s what I got cab chasse)
Any ways I’m planning to up grade my stereo (still got a tape deck) soon and
Want to put 2 more speakers in it hoping 6x9's but will do 6's rounds if I must
Any ways I'm wondering if any body else has done a 4 speaker cd system and what they did as for placements for the others

SOUND
when I had a suzuki, I had six inch splits in the front kick panels, had to make mdf board to mount them but them fit with a little bending of some metal to clear the magnet and the tweeters were on the dashboard, reflecting off the windscreen. Sounded quite good. But they were middle of the market "phillips" splits.
Later I had installed rear 6" just behind the front seats but mine was a SWB not a ute. In such a small car I would just stick to 6" splits in the kick panels, maybe add another pair of 6" in the front doors if you require it louder. Dont think you have room for a sub anywhere. Good spot for an amp is under the glove box.
If you buy a good set of splits and/or speakers like say MB Quartz, you'll get plenty bottom end out of them even off a decent head unit.
And with 4 of them under your feet, and tweeters on the dashboard it'll be plenty loud and clear.

Shut Up, Get Out, & Start Digging...
I wouldnt go for 6". Stock locations take 5" and even though you can fit a 6" without cutting if you build the panel out with MDF it's not a good idea for 2 reasons. Firstly on the drivers side it starts getting too close to the accelerator pedal and secondly it's going to get wet and fall apart. You can use marine ply and paint it but you still have problems with the accelerator pedal.
I have 5" MB Quarts running off a cheap 4 x 20W alpine amp (the other 2 channels are bridges & push a 12" JL sub) and they do great. Mounting a pair of tweeters on the dash makes it even better.
My suggestion:
* Mid price range set of 5" splits
* Sound deaden on the inside of the kickpanel (even underbody tar would work)
* Mount the tweeters on the dash You should get them to fit between the end of the dash and the door, unless you have a coily)
* Run them off an amp if funds allow. Even something small should work.
I would also be prepared to take the speakers out if you intend to do water crossings. Mount the amp high as suggested for this reason too.

i have a swb vitara.
i got 6" splits behind the front seats and 4" splits in the factory space's in the front.
there running off a sony mp3 head unit and pumping pretty well.
im thinking off getting a sub and amp but money is a bit sparce at the moment and i really dont have much room for a sub cause i load the zook up a bit, but you just cant resist having that doff doff.

if your not offroad, your not really driving
Marutis have almost half a foot more cabin space behind the seats ( they are effectively a LWB styleside that has been converted to a ute.....so the cab finished a bit further back)
Go with 5" speakers. If you are concerned about water damage, fit a water curtin behind the speaker to stop downward traveling water 8 just a piece of plastic that you screw into the top 2 mounting holes when fixing the speaker into the cavity. This flap of plastic just gets poked through the cavity and lays on top of the speaker)
You can also buy speakers with a poly speaker cone ( plastic). this will last a little longer than the paper versions, should they get wet.

i have 6" in the doors, easy to rubber band a bag over if you plan on getting wet... inside the door when i mounted them (in mdf) is also about 10 layers of glad wrap taped around so its airtight at the back too.
rear door on mine has 20mm mdf and 6x9's.
for a ute, i'd do the 6" in the doors and space 6x9's into the targa bar, under the seat belt mounts (where it would go if it was a softy) but angle them back so its not blasting right into your ear hole. about armpit heaight..
