Are sierras just generally noisy or is it a sign they are going?
Put a new gearbox in.. that no longer makes a noise!! but that is all the other noises the car makes..
Is carpetting it a good idea? (with cheap offcuts) and will that help at all?
You could line the inside of your zook with rubber (basically like a thin mould of floor/centre area) then put the standard vinyl (or carpet) moulded over the top.
Would still be 'spill proof' inside for when it rains, carpet smells to much when it gets wet and dirty.
the front bearings would just need tightening, they shouldnt really make a noise unless they are stuffed then they make noises like my rear wheel bearing is. a loud hum!
They are all niosey just part of the fun driving a zook. Here in the states we have a brush on liner called Herculiner. Just like the spray on but you brush it on. It's only like $100 USD works very well. The trick is to try and cover as much coverage in both sides of the firewall.

You could head to a Clark Rubber or similar (camping shop etc) and pick up something for cheap then cut out around gear stick/transfer lever/seat belt thingys etc....even if its 2-5mm thick, it will reduce most noise.
