Vitara Wagon as a plaything
I love looking through old threads... ok, so maybe i have an obsession, but til i actually get my zook, what else can i do?!?kimclive wrote:Great to see this thread again. My first post here!
Great trip down memory lane.
She's had a fair bit of body tidy up work done, bullbar, 50mm suspension lift, OME shocks and now rides like a dream.
A bit more mechanical TLC and she will be perfect.
Cheers

Thanks for that dan, its always great to have someone else keeping an eye out. Would prefer a lwb, however I'm starting to get desperate... nah, I'm happy to wait to get one at the right priceA1MAV wrote:Hey Nick (got ya Pm aswell but I will answer here ) I still have the longy at the moment but it has currently changed hands to my father and from there (as he found a 85 zook ute) it has now moved onto Hypozook .....he has big plans (like those GH.EY iroks in a small 39.5" size ( JOKING )

looking good, and pretty clean these days.
exhaust ay, maybe a good 2" with extractors, and hi-flo cat and muffler. thats what i have, but i have a G16a carby motor. you could probably get a 2.25", with extractors, and hi-flo cat and muffler, but you would be moving the torque a lot higher up in the rev range.
i find with any exhaust upgrade, it will always make a difference, but sometimes it may not be what you are actually after. a bigger diameter pipe will let the engine rev out more and harder, but the actual power, or torque will be higher up on the revs.

i got a new exhaust cos i killed the old one. but i went up to a 2" so i can rev the crap out of my vit. and i do, ask anyone i go wheeling with, valve boucing is the norm.kimclive wrote:Hi SiKiD,
Currently the 'power band' is very low in the rev range. It wants to chug up a hill in top gear rather than free rev in third.
I think opening her up (header and larger dia pipe) might give more power above 3k rpm. But I am happy to be corrected there.

maybe a 2.25" would be good.
but be wary, too big of a diameter pipe may take away any power you originally have, and will have a negative effect.

Hi Clive,
The bigger exhaust and Tri-Y extractors do make a difference but don't expect too much from it all. I would suggest 2" or 2.25" and get a Cat with even an bigger inlet & outlet . You will also probably want an extra (small) muffler as well as it will take the edge of the drone which can occur. The noise is quite acceptable and not that much more than stock. I will know in the next few days whether I may have some or all of this for sale (near new).
