wiring spotlights
Moderator: -Scott-
the relay has 2x87 which is the same as connecting the 2 lights to the one terminal 87.
the relay gets it's power from the headlight and where you tap in to them is the wire that is connected to the highbeam wire.
I live very close to you and if you require someone to do it for ya do work for a small fee.
Cheers
Simon..

Damo, before you do anything about this thread you might take the time and ask 84ZOOKSTA where he stole those drawings from.
The drawings are the intellectual property of Traxide Tronics and as such are protected by copy right, but these drawings along with valid installation info are available for anyone to inspect at the following land rover site
http://www.aulro.com/modules.php?name=F ... pic&t=5471
My company is not in the habit of spending large amounts of time to design diagram intended to help other and supply these same diagrams for free just so some low life can set up a side line for himself by stealing our property.
chunkz, before you get ripped off by this low life, go to the site and if you have any questions, ask away. I can assure you either I or others on that site will be only to happy to help you FOR FREE and with the correct info. 84ZOOKSTA last post is incorrect which just goes to show he can’t even read a schematic so I can only imagine what sort of a disaster you would end up with if he does anything to your vehicle.
Cheers.

cant you just post help here?
and i thank you for offering to help, but arnt you getting a little worked up about this
if i had an informative peice of information
id prefer for it to be accessed by all every where
instead of only having one source
e.g thats why the internet is so great
a great sharing domain of information
True chunkz, having access everywhere is to the benefit of all but in this case and any case where a site has made any info available, that web site should be credited when the info is being posted elsewhere and furthermore, I have no objections to this specific info being posted elsewhere as long as AULRO gets the credit it deserves for hosting this info in the first place.
What he has done is nothing short of theft.
But to add insult to injury, the low life is actually trying to make money out of this info, all be it in a round about way. Something he wouldn’t be able to do if he was honest in the first place and posted the the originating site.
But he couldn’t post the originating site, because anyone wishing to carry out this type of installation but needed help, would be able to access free assistance from people who do know what they are doing and this would cut him and his money spinner out of the loop.
As for answering questions posted on this site, I am only too happy to help and I won’t charge you for any help given.
Cheers.

Did you steal those drawings from the AULRO.COM site without giving the originator (Drivesafe) the kudos?
I hope you aren't claiming you drew those 'cos I know who did draw them.
Late edit: I posted this at about the same time as Drivesafe posted his message but his was saved first. My post might have been read to have been aimed at Drivesafe. It wasn't, of course.

but any who, who gives a flying zook
i followed the diagram right
and what would happen:
Lights off = Spot lights can switch on/off
low beams = Spot lights CANNOT switch on
high beams = Spot lights can switch on/off
Now its (the relay) not ment to have power whilst the lights are off correct?
so what went wrong?
If i left the lights off, the spotties off
but theres still power going to the relay... will this drain my battery?
cheers
Where did you tap the relay trip from? In other words - Pin 86 - what is this connected to?chunkz wrote:

Chunkz, I could be wrong but based on the info you posted in your last few posts, it sounds like you have negative switched headlights and you have picked up the low beam wire and not the high beam.
Again, do your driving lights work as I described in my last post.
Cheers

Hi again chunkz, first off, no matter what vehicle you have or plan to work on, I strongly recommend that you DO NOT use a test light on a modern vehicle as it could be fatal.
Using a test light on a vehicle can trigger the safety air bags and in the USA there have be a number of deaths as a result of test lights being used.
Get a multi meter and with your headlights turned off check the voltage of each of the three wires on the back of your headlight globe.
If they all show as being negative, you have positive switched headlights.
If they all show positive, then you have negative switched headlights.
Check your wiring and then I can set out a test to find the correct wire and the right way to wire up the relay.
Cheers

chunkz, the fix is quick and easy. Just move the control wire from the low beam wire to the high beam wire and disconnect the relay’s wire you have on the driving light’s negative wire and simply loop it back to the battery positive wire where it connects to the relay’s input terminal and the job is done. About 10 minutes work.
Cheers.

thanks for all your help
it would seem that my lights are negatively switched
so all is well now,
only work in high beam position
all i have to do now is align em..
You are a D**khead, aren't you? You don't understand intellectual property theft or plagiarism. Did you ever write an essay or science project at school then let your mates copy it so they didn't have to do the work?chunkz wrote:

Yes - but give credit to the person who created the information. One doesn't make it appear that the information is one's own.chunkz wrote:if i had an informative peice of information

chunkz, you have completely missed the point. There is a right way and a wrong way of doing things.
Thank goodness most people choose to do it the right way and this will mean that there are people who will continue to use their own time and experience to help others with never a thought to making money out of their hard work.
The information that these people freely provide, not only helps people like you but it saves you money.
If everybody thought like you then the net itself would not be, because sites like this and others are provided for free because those who provide them have to put in huge amounts of their own time and usually a considerable amount of their own money on the very same basis of trying to be of assistance to others
If the net was full of thieving low life's like 84zooksta no decent person would waste their time trying to help others and then arrogant, incompetent, ungrateful individuals like yourself would actually have to spend your own money to get done professionally, what others have shown you how to do it yourself from what you have received here for free.
To everybody else, keep up the good work and cheers
