Haven't actually managed to get round to it :(
But! Got it planned for tomorrow. Mate coming round to assist (he's never done it before either so this could be fun). The ginger beer is chilling in the fridge already for hours of grunting, swearing, and general frustration!! hehehe
Couple of quick questions...
Do I drain the diff oil 1st? Do I need to grease anything when reassembling? Oh..and PM me your mobile number...JUST IN CASE!!

Its best to take some oil out just in case but you definately have to grease the cv joint bearings before you put the drive shaft into the housing.

Well.....looks like I broke a bit more than 1st thought
The outer CV is definetly gone...but in turn it stripped the threads off the axle So I'll be chasing down a replacement one tomorrow.
On the whole, not too hard to do...just a pain but we have 3 of us working on it hehe. One thing tho, Mark, did you ever have troubles getting the inner CV out of the Diff? Mine seems to be catching or something and won't come out???
Also, did you just reuse the clips on the boots..and some of those c-clips are a pain in the ass!!

Give the shaft a quick hard pull out and the inner spline will come out of the diff. It also has a "c" clip on it.
I did use the C clips on the boots if I didn't break them as well. They only cost $2 to buy so I carryed a few spare any way. I also bought from central coast 4wd wreckers the whole assembly for $125 and just had spares of both inner and outer cv's from left over's of what I had broken.
You'll also find that normally if you break a cv you stuff the shaft 90% of the time , or it was for me any way thats why it was good to have a whole assembly.

Ahh...that's good to know...when I get some money up I'll buy a spare full assembly for both sides.
Got it finished last night, I just used a pry bar to get the axle out of the diff, came real easy and only lost about 10ml of diff oil
Hardest part was putting the damn hub back on, had forgotten how to do it. Read the manual and got it straight away after playing around for 30 minutes
Anyway...all done, real easy once you know how. Thanks for ya help matey.
