Are Late model Defender windscreen frames aluminium??

Post by lilpigzuk »

Ie 2000 onwards?? Not that they probably changed for a while. Or is there a website showing what panels were metal and what are aluminium for the different models? Im sure I have seen a body repair manual somewhere where it showed this info, but cant remember where..

windscreen frame is cast alloy.(yes it can be welded) as is the front guards, outer skin on the side doors, outer skin on the bonnet, roof, floor panels, front grill surround, rear quarter top and bottoms etc. back doors changed from alloy to steel in 03 sometime, you can tell a steel one from alloy by the rounded corners on the window and a rubber.

Steel parts - firewall, door frames, rear window frames, bonnet frame, inner front guards (galvanised), roof gutters. Front vents i think are steel too.
