If i had to choose between the 2 i would keep the sills and paint the door. Tube sliders will be alot better than plate bolted to the body, do both, u will find if u put on sliders people will kick the sils when they get in and out and scratch the paint any way.

I would go both or just sliders as they will keep your door away from panel damage and protect your sills.

I've got mine ready for the chequer to go on the sills. Going to use 2mm, won't protect much at all. But it is better than just stock sills and looks pretty good until I get some sliders.

How would you put it on the sills? I was just thinknig a few tek screws, big job bolting it in and there would need to be some re-inforcing inside the sills to bolt to?

Nice colour  ;)

I would paint the door tops, but I am not a fan of the bling look of checker plate rather it painted matching colour or powdercoated black
