great post there little rich. i think we need to slow down and listen to the voice of experience.

anyway, as someone who's looking to build a buggy, on a budget, for legends class, it's all a bit overwhelming... do we build it to the limits of ozrock rules, and either skip werock, or be uncompeditive in the higher class there, or do we build it to werock legends class rules, and have a disadvantage in the ozrock series...

do we choose one series and just go for it? ozrock is closer to home, yet werock was the original inspiration for the buggy (and qualifies for the world championships... which'd be an awesome goal to shoot for)... will werock run comps closer to home in the future? will one series go under, leaving us with a buggy built for a series that no longer exists? that's alot of uncertanty, when my brother and i are looking at putting every $ we save into this thing, but there is so much uncertainty at which direction to go... especially because both series are very young, so not all kinks are ironed out of the class rules yet (which may leave us with an ineligable, or uncompeditive buggy down the track). i can imagine this might be putting off a fair number of would be compeditors.

and that's just with 2 buggy oriented series... imagine when a 3rd or 4th spring up, how bad it will be.

I have read this thread, start to finish and to start with I would just like to say I totaly agree that we all should run under the same rules and regs (as this will make it fair and ez for anyone building and competing).
As of 1-1-06 OZ rock will be using the same rules as We rock USA TO make it ez for everyone out there (competitors and spectators). BTW there is only 2 rules that are different that need changing.
I find it Very funny all the BS and slagging that has gone on here from numerous people (from close to home to far and wide).
I dont come on here much (contrary to popular belief) as I am busting my ass trying to get 6 rounds and 3 public displays (like the Melb 4x4 show) up and going for 06.
Also I have built 6 buggies for customers and 1 for myself (now sold)
I am in the midst of building another buggy for myself, also running OZ Rock at Melb 4x4 show, December 05 round of OZ rock and running a business and family. (so you see why I am not here much).
I would like to ask why the hell hasnt someone just rung me to discuss this instead of dragging dirty laundry infront of 10,000+ people on an open forum, making the sport and its organisers look stupid. :x :?: :?: :?: :?:
This sport is my life and I would hate to see it crash because of what a few people say and do (that dont know what they are talking about) or (are doing to make themselves look big or important). :? There are a few people in this country that are busting a nut getting things up and running so if you ARE NOT one of them,
1- Find out who they are and ask if you can help.
2- Enter there comp.
3- Give them cash.
4- keep your opinions to yourself.
5- Take up hardcore knitting.
6- And or all the above.

If you are one of them (you catch more flies with hunny than a hammer)
We all should talk about shyt together instead of on a chat line. I may be the new kid on the block but, I aint going anywhere but up as OZ rock has BIG plans and now has BIG backing.
So in finishing, lets all just get along and help the sport get bigger.
Yes there will be 1 set of rules BUT there also will be numerous comps run.
NOW ABLE TOO SAY WHAT I WANT WITHOUT FEAR OF LOOSING SALES.
The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.

Its all good then

It makes things so much better when the actual person doing the comps posts on here and says what the go is, instead of others that seem to think they know whats going on do.

4 pages of shit for nothing  they already have it sorted.......what the hell are we all talking about.

I can only imagen how far the sport will of come by the end of 06  should be very intersting

P.S
which comp will get to WA first

well said cheezy   congats
i now hope that the whining, mud slinging biatches are sitting in a corner red faced realising that over this thread the have done nothing but drag this sport down.
i seriously hope those involved have now learnt to get their facts straight before the they drag a fellow series and indeed the sport through the mud to a point of no return.

Same rules and vehicle specs... right on!

I will be running in both Oz Rock and WE Rock next year, and my buggy will fit both sets of vehicle specs I hope - now I am more certain from Cheezy's last post.

For me, it's a distance/time/funds thing. I doubt I will be able to get to the WE Rock rounds up north... getting to Sydney(ish) is OK - still a haul, but OK. Getting to Brisbane is a serious undertaking for us Mexicans.

Same goes for the Qld folk - getting to VIC (or SA!) is no mean feat.

So, unless I pick up a sponsor that is a freight company to get my rig up north for me, I will likely hit the rounds of WE Rock that I can travel to, and the OZ Rocks that I can get to.

OZ Rock will bring us Southerners back up in line with the competors from QLD and NSW, and that's gotta be good for the sport. I think with comps now in VIC and SA the sport will grow fast down here... and I am extremely happy to hear that the rules will be universal.

Thanks Cheezy. Thanks Sam. Thanks David. Thanks Det. Thanks Little Rich......... thanks to all those people who man up and put their money and time where their mouths are. It's easy to organize a 'virtual' event from in front of your computer keyboard on a public forum... you guys really make it happen, and for that I thank you all.

Looking forward to lots of great events for all of us in 2006!

One World

Post by Hobzee »

The World is a much smaller place these days. If we want to compete in the US or want the US guys to compete here we should try to be under the one campaign.

CCDA might just be the policeman. CCDA doesn't want to make the rules for rockcrawling - it's busy enough worring about winch challenges, etc and couldn't care less about rock crawling rules. You are the people - you make the rules and if you want someone to publish them, keep them up to date, enforce them, manage event calendars, web sites, forums, train and qualify marshalls, etc maybe CCDA is the one to do that.

Insurance for 1 event can be '000s and can stop event organisers in their tracks. Navrun spends about 5K pa on insurance but runs some 12+ events which gets the premium down to about $400 per event. Note the Cliffhanger is part of Navrun and it has an unregistered class ideal for crawlers so the insurance can be the same. CCDA offers insurance too which can make it easy for a one off event organiser to get affordable insurance. As for insurance we can't be disjointed as separate We Rock dudes, Oz Rock dudes and other groups and all be covered by once scheme. "someone" or a body needs to be insured (ala CCDA or Navrun). You need to band together and be members of an association or group to go to an insurer and they need to see who you are. If you follow a common set of guidelines/rules and have a membership you are in with a chance. By joining CCDA and having CCDA work for you (not against you) you are more than half way there.

CCDA gets just 10-15 people to their meetings and barely a person who is into crawling is there. Go to them with a proposal and be surprised. Problem is who makes the proposal, we are all over the place and don't have a leader or common purpose - that's the way I see it any way.

Dustin give my regards to Beck and Ron and the Pro Comp team ... Hobzee
