Ok, im sick of doing climbs and as soon as i have to stop (clutch and brakes) the zuk stalls. Had a search around and could only see that christover had one, but no details.
I know that they are generally just a bike gear lever, but how are they setup on a zuk?
Can you set it up so that it will lift the idle speed temporarily to 2000rpm, and still be able to use the throttle to?
Any pics of setups would be great to.

I used to have a hand throttle on mine. I just used a bike gear lever that was attached to the side of the instrument cluster. A cable then ran through to a small bracket on the throttle lever on the carby. You can then just adjust it to whatever rpm you wanted. haven't got around to fixing it yet but it worked great before I did the engine swap

Mine was a 1.0 litre b4 I 1.3'd it, so I had the old choke cable to use for the hand throttle.
I removed all the automatic idle up bits off front of carb, and used that for connection of hand throttle.
I cut an old carb to get a piece for the cable to hook on, and bolted it to side of original auto idle up bit.
And made a support for cable on side of carb.
This can be used as a hand throttle/idle adjust and you can still use foot pedal normally. I use it on hill starts, saves using useless hand brake, and I idle it up when cold etc.
On the mokes, we used any choke cable you could get, and connected them to top of foot pedal.

I fitted mine mainly cos of poor hearing.
Sometimes in noisey situations it would stall, and I didn't know till I went to take off and nothing happened. Usually in peak hour traffic.
I know I got a warning light, but I aint always looking.
Wasn't really an issue Off road, as I can feel stall before it happens.
Though when carbs aint perfect, they can be a pain at low idle.
But it has been very useful for steep hill starts. Cruddy handbrakes.
Also very useful to set a constant speed, so on very bumpy extreme tracks, your foot dont bump the pedal at wrong time.
It can be useful to set a minimum throttle in case foot slips off, like in rough bogholes or rocky ledges. I set it to an unstallable idle.
I also get foot/leg cramps on long trips, so hand throttle can be useful.
It's not acceptable in most comps, for safety, unless it returns to idle by itself, so either use a pushbike lever, or call it an idle adjuster, not a throttle

Be careful that the hand throttle doesn't cause drag or tanglement of the foot pedal

i made one of those motorbike lever jobs and for hill starts and fine crawling it works great , and to idle it up you just adjust the cable tensioners at either end and it doesnt affect pedal travel when more herbs are needed , takes some getting used to though (keeped pulling it out of gear ) but i am a dumb ass

I fitted one, and after trying it straight to the carby, I found I preferred attaching it to the accelerator pedal. At the carby it tends to kink the throttle cable. I screwed the bike thumb adjuster to the steel rail under the dash on the drivers side, so it's a straight pull to the pedal.
For tricky hill starts, and stops, I use two electric line lockers. One is spliced into each front brake line. I have a missile switch as a master to power up the two switches for the line lockers, just makes them safer. In some situations these also work well as fiddle/cutting brakes to make turns tighter.

I forget to back off the idle sometimes, and get a large surprise when I try to go slowly down a steep hill
Interference between the 2 cables doesn't sound bad, but can be a little dangerous, so fit anything carefully, considering all possible throttle needs.
This is the main reason I connected it to the idle up side of carby, as they both work totally independantly.
