hey guys just fitted a 16v vit motor to the zook, just wanted to no how do u close the bonnet? the air intake hits causing a bit of a prob, also i used the sierra mounts so its not sitting as high, and no i dont want a body lift.
buggy time............
graham - loosen the bolts where the bonnet joins the body on the hinges... lift the bonnet RIGHT up there as far as the holes will allow (about 5mm) and re-tighten... then get some rubber chair stoppers and put the old bonnet stoppers inside them and re-attach to the bonnet (can give 10mm extra lift on front).. then use bolt cutters on the latch, bend it out so it still latches shut and weld the gap. voila! bonnet lift. (search suzishop forums, i did a writeup on it).
that gives you an instant 7mm more clearance.
you can also cut out the X-member on the bonnet which i have done to clear my weber... not sure on the legalities of it but i HAD to do it to get another 10mm to fit the weber in... now i got about 3-4mm of play in the bonnet skin before it hits the air filter.

It won't be too bad if you have a stock Sierra loom & stock Vitara loom to start with. The loom I got was already done & is an abortional mess. I think I will end up starting again with a stock Sierra loom, and changing the engine management over to Megasquirt, though I may cut the Vit loom that I have right back and use it, at least initially.Luigi Malone wrote:Hi Bazooked, or anyone else who has done a MPFI swap,
do you have any pointers on how to do the wiring conversion?
I will shortly be doing this and I admit to being a bit worried about making the new loom fit in.
