100series IFS or Solid axle?

Post by RUFF »

What is a sure fire way to identify if a 100series has IFS or Solid Axle? I know its pretty obvious to look under the front but its a little hard when you can only look at the pictures posted on the internet.

The 100 series IFS jobbys had different style of steel rims fitted and alloys ...if some1 has a pic of the two it may help...........

And pretty much every ifs hungy ive seen always sits liike a drag car .... ;) they sit a hell of alot lower in the front .........substantially more than the normal sagged solid axle 100....

But im sure there is other slight panel chnages from the previuos mods

Sorry Dan forgot to mention also only looking at GXLs. Petrols not Diesels.
I did sort of know about the wheels but even that can be hard to tell in pics.

chrome verus grey in the mirrors and grill surrounds. this generally only works on 10/2000+ models, and like dan said the rims. the problem there is the solid and ifs look identical but the offset is different.

got a link to the pic?

So its as simple as that? All V8s are IFS and All 4.5s are Solid? Only looking at the 2 petrol varieties.

For some reason i thought you could only buy a 100series now in IFS. I thought they droped the Solid Axle front a couple of years ago.

If talking new 100's the base model and the diesel non turbo GXL still has solid, petrol only comes in V8 IFS and turbo diesel in IFS only.

another way to tell with the older models anyway, look at the back tail light asembaly if the indicators are orange it's usualy a solid axel. the new ifs all had clear indicators and yeh if it don't have v8 on the back or turbo in gold writing on the rear quarer panels its solid front axel
