HELP!!! 9500xp probs

Post by Jeff80 »

Hey, was in a bit of a bingle in which a honda Jazz ran into the drivers side front guard of my 80 and pushed it across several inches. Ive had it all fixed, however, my xp is making noise and bogging down when it is winching out only. It never made any noise previously, and Im hoping it hasnt bent the drum. Im going to spool right out and in again under load but just wanted to see if this sounds familiar to anyone? When winding in it seems fine... Got me stumped!

Did your bullbar get tweaked in the accident? If this is not straight where the winch bolts up it will be creating misalignment through the winch assembly and it maybe rubbing somewhere?

I'm not very knowledgeable on low mounts but I'm assuming the internal brake works differently when spooling out/in and hence maybe the cause of your problem also.

PM Lockee from here, he'll be able to help ;)

The bar did get tweaked, but only on the drivers side. It had been reinforced with 20mm steel behind the winch so the rest of the bar bent but not at that point. Im going to run it out and in again, and maybe take it off over the week end but lll PM Lockee to see what he thinks. Thanks for your reply, Ill keep you posted...

Is it possible it's just a coincidence and maybe it's had a bit of water inside and the gearbox has started to rust?

Just a thought ...

Yeah, thats what im thinking which would probably be a better option. More of a PITA than a prob. Might have to strip it down and check it out. Anyway, Ill let you know what happens. Just trying to find time over Chrisi in between the relo bash's...

Just thought Id let you know how I went. I pulled the winch out and the motor off. After pulling it down, there was a bit of corossion in there and a bit of sludge. So I guess it was just a coincedence and Roldit, you were right. Ive replaced bearings and cleaned up the stater, poles and brushes. Works awesome again. Thanks for your response all, and Lockee see PM.
