Olde skool comp truck
Olde skool comp truck
Well on the 1/1/06 the wife (boss, bank manager and etc) gave the green light to spend money on a hobby.
So that day i went to a mates place and picked up my hobby, swapped a gpz 600 1987 for it,well it being olde skool a MQ patrol.
It does have a little potenial, a few goodies
front shock hoops
rear shock bar
rear air locker
and is set up for injection
36" silverstone mud tyres
The interior is okay and the motor is the olde L28.
Now to start.

Well the plans for this truck is to work myself into comps.Screwy_ScrewBall wrote:not bad for a start, what are your plans for it
I have the plans on choppin the thing into a ute,but have to get the thing regd first,as most comps require regd trucks.
I just get the thing regd then ready for the second round of tough tracks in may.
I dont know how the truck with react so the only way is to go a see what happens.
For starters I will put in front air locker,6 point age, rock sliders, rear bar.and some comp tyres.
When I first thought of comp truck I was going to start in the lower class in production, but with this I moved a place forward,so I will have fun with those more expensive capable trucks.
Im using Olde skool as a steppin stone to comps,so I will start the leafsprung truck until I learn more.
Just what NZ4x4 said to allow the fitment for longer shocks, hopefully better travel.Mkdude wrote:err
what do these 2 things do? what are their benefits
front shock hoops??
rear shock bar ??
and do u want to sell the rims and tyres and is there a guide to gutting the rear quarter anywhere?
I think the rear quarter cutting guide is in the MQ bible,i just did it as I did the same to my Maverick
I will be gettin rid of rims and tyres as the rims are off a prado ifs, tyres still have good tead, just not fused on silverstones as a comp tyre.

Hey,
We had an old fj40 cruiser which we used superior shackles on and they are awesome. We only had them on the back but I think if they where up the front it would of been twice as better. Well worth it. Plus when you finishing wheeling you just put the pin back in and it lock the shackle closed for driving home.

Be mindful that if drop shackles are not set up correctly they will create uncontrolled travel which will make your suspension load and unload in a weird manner.hardenup wrote: would drop shackles be worth it.
Superior Engineering will be able to give you a good rundown on what you need eg trac bar, limiting straps, springs, brake lines.........
Well I'm guessing that they didn't think everyone would carry on like a big bunch of sooky girls over it like they have........
