yea Ive seen the 'DADDY' kitted lux's with more clearance lights than a road train, mudflaps right across the back, full on bullbar, stacks, and air cleaners up above the cab in the center... stock tires on th front, and 2 wide stockies on the rear, and lowered front raised rear.

2/10 piss poor.

hi there,
i had my injectors checked at the local injection specialist, they were alright but if they had needed doing it would have been about $75 per injector, they strip and clean the injector replace the end (tip) of the injector reassemble and test the break off pressure and then disass. and shim the injector toget the right break off pressure, reass. and retest.
i also had them strip and o'haul the pump refit and dyno it for $875, which gave better power, fuel economy and less smoke. the best power increase so far was the 'genie' extractors 2 1/2 inch exhaust with straight though muffler and i mean straight through its got a bit of a bark at 2700 rpm under load, a turbo should fix that but I'II need somemore $$$.
Anyway if its blowing excess smoke and using lots of fuel its not good for the motor (washes bores and puts excessive heat stress on the pistons) it would be a wise move to get it done so you don't have to fork for a new engine right away :D :D :D

Oh you almost bring a tear mentioning the Strand & the Cri (Townsville) - spent 3 months fly in fly out a couple of years back.....

Anyway, a couple of points, when running decent boost ~17psi on a 91 era GQ, the pump cannot deliver more than +100% over standard fuel, a mate had fuel starvation at high rpm. Pump was rebuilt due to low sulphur BP diesel in Qld a couple of years back using some Kohmatsu parts to get sufficient flow for the beast!. Has about 125 hp at rear wheels and 700 ftlb of torque per dyno now running a Safari Turbo and supra intercooler and Dyno'd with 35" Claws and 4.3 diff ratios.

Fuel usage very similar to my 4.5 Petrol GU though!!! 5-5.5 l /Km

Also, if it just the top seal of the pump, Patrol list had DIY a little while back, seal was supposedly $8 from Nissan, didn't pay much attention to details though.

well before I started sootin I could keep up with a 2000model corolla WITH riceboy exhaust

thought that was pretty good for a diesel

and to add ... my hand break light is now stuck on :bad-words:

He's at Nile St Woolloongabba, does alot of riceboy stuff, but he has done good stuff on a mates GQ with his dyno. You will be more limited as the late model GQ's have different pistons which aren't as tolerant of that level of boost off a Safari turbo. I'm waiting to see the dyno chart once my mate fits a Suby water air IC and dynos that sucker....not holding my breath though, truck been in same situation for 1 year now, ie Xtra Cab GQ built, but engine bay empty.......

Thinking about being at Cruiser myself for XRCC, just not sure yet.

got 186000 on the clock and my ute is starting to blow soot
gets an oil change ever 5000 with filters ...

how much for to get a 4.2 freshened up?
or any other ideas about fixing this problem
maybe an injector clean, how much $$$

Have u tried putting a bottle of diesel injector cleaner through your tank like Nulon or chemtech. I think my mates run the nulon injector cleaner in there 75 series 1HZ and it's done over 230000kms and the injectors havent been touched. It rarely blows any smoke but it does blow a little when my mate gives the throttle a few taps when changing gears   It works, cleans it out :finger:

Diesel soot comes in handy when u got some idiot sitting right up ya bumb, just give them a shower of soot and it pisses them right off  :finger:  :finger:

Just my 2 cents worth
