Guys,
My 1HDT in my HJ75 has been making a ticking sound when it is cold. The sound seems to come from the Assisted Cold Start Device (ACSD), commonly callled the wax pellet. I live in a temperate climate and the winters don't get very cold here.
I've heard of suggestions to take the device out and use a plate from a 1HZ pump to cover the hole. Otherwise the part costs $400 from a Denso dealer.
Anybody done this on their 1HDT pump?
Dave

Ticking 1HDT

Hi Damian,
Indeed the ticking noise stops when the lever is pulled forwards. A diesel shop says if it breaks (how?) I'm in for a new pump. Any truth to this or is the shop trying to sell me a $400 part? But the same mob also said I can take a plate from a 1HZ pump and just close the opening.
Cheers,
Dave
