it does looks like it could work
very interesting but i spose it would be for vehicles that suffer from this problem alot

i wounder how long the bronze bush would last if you were pushing it hard almost all the time
so there for the crown wheel would be pushing against this bush more often
just thinking it may be more hassle that it worth for full competition

and the little bits of the bush that wear could they end up in bearings and cause the bearings to have a shorter life

don't some zooks already have this idea, on the back diff at least?
I thought vit diffs had them.
My rear lj diff has a similar looking device, to stop crown wheel flex. Not sure why sierras did not?
I could be misinterpretting the subject, too :roll:

I think its very common in built 9in diffs (drag racing type stuff)

I would not think that it would wear quickly .. Its an oiled (as the crown wheel would have oil on it) bronze bush running against a smooth surface ... similar bronze thrust washers last many 100's of 1000s of kilometers in a gearbox. They have a slightly dimpled surface to allow them to trap some oil so they stay lubricated under load

I would think that the bit of realitively soft bronze would have a pretty negilgable affect on bearing life as long as you follow proper procedures and change you diff oil on a regular basis.

it actually porus the oil soaks into it and comes out when its heated

thats why old bronze bushes used to get soaked over night in oil before being installed
