Is my motor shagged?

Post by sideways »

My realy cool , well hung brother was driving my car home from sale when it went 'KABOOOM'

We seem to think that it is a head gasket , symptoms are as follows

1. Pressurised rocker cover after running
2. Radiator is pressurised after running
3.Wont start with oil filler cap on.
4. No water in oil or oil in water , have pulled head off and gasket looks fine.
5. Head is not warped in any way shape or form , although I do think about naked men from time to time!!!!
6. Bores are not glazed , althought after a few bongs my eyes are.
7.Fuel lines are clean , clear and full of diesle.
8.Engine will run , but very rough at idle.

Anyone out there in 4x4 land have any suggestions , comment or perhaps a free motor they might have siiting around( maybe tell me where you park your GQ at night)

Cylinder leakage test, get a mechanic to do it he can diagnose it correctly for you.
Don't ask me, ask them. I'm just runnin for my life myself.
Well they are all following you...
No they ain't, I'm just in front...............

Take it to a decent machine shop and have it pressure tested! They often crack on the top out of the core pugs and into and around the spring seats for number six cylinder. Also the water jacket holes can corrode and cause it to pressurise the cooling system.

i think u will find if u have done a head gasket water would come out the
exhaust, the radiator will have lotsa small bubles in it as well as heating up quiet fast with lots of pressure in the system as well

had this happen with my old jackaroo

depeneding where u got id says a good 400-500 dollors maybe

I take it that from your avatar it is a GQ but with what engine? 2.8ltr diesel, 3.0ltr petrol, 4.2ltr petrol, 4.2ltr diesel or 4.2ltr turbo diesel????????

Funnay post/way to ask the question BTW ;)
